Removal Procedure
- Fuel Feed Front Pipe (1) - Remove - Fuel Feed Front Pipe Replacement
- Disconnect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
- Drain the cooling system. Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill LCV, LGX) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE-47716 LCV, LGX)
- Drain the engine oil. Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement
- Recover the refrigerant. Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging (R-134a) , or Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging (R-1234yf)
- Battery Tray (2) - Remove - Battery Tray Replacement
- Automatic Transmission Range Selector Lever Cable (4) - Disconnect - ELECTRONIC TRANSMISSION RANGE SELECTOR MANUAL PARK RELEASE CABLE REPLACEMENT
- Radiator Surge Tank Inlet Hose @ Engine Coolant Air Bleed Pipe - Disconnect - Radiator Surge Tank Inlet Hose Replacement (LCV From Radiator Surge Tank to Radiator and Radiator Surge Tank Outlet Pipe)
- Air Cleaner Assembly (1) - Remove - Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement
- Power Brake Booster Vacuum Hose (1) - Remove - Power Brake Booster Vacuum Hose Replacement (LCV)
- Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Hose (1) - Remove - Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Hose Replacement
- Radiator Inlet Hose (2) - Remove - Radiator Inlet Hose Replacement (LCV)
- Radiator Outlet Hose (2) - Remove - Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement (LCV)
- Heater Inlet Hose (3) - Remove - Heater Inlet Hose Replacement (LCV Water Outlet to Heater Inlet Hose Connector)
, or Heater Inlet Hose Replacement (LCV Heater Inlet Hose Connector to Auxiliary Air Conditioning Evaporator Intermediate Tube)
- Heater Outlet Hose (2) - Remove - Heater Outlet Hose Replacement (LCV Heater Outlet Hose Connector to Auxiliary Air Conditioning Evaporator Intermediate Tube)
- Air Conditioning Compressor and Condenser Hose (4) @ Air Conditioning Compressor - Remove - Air Conditioning Compressor and Condenser Hose Replacement (LCV)
- Disconnect the outer tie rod (3) from the steering knuckle. Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod ReplacementNOTE:
Disconnect the left and right sides. Left side shown, right side similar.
- Transmission Fluid Cooler Outlet Pipe (1) @ Transmission Fluid Auxiliary Cooler Outlet Pipe (2) - Disconnect - Transmission Fluid Cooler Hose/Pipe Quick-Connect Fitting Disconnection and Connection
- Transmission Fluid Cooler Inlet Pipe (1) @ Transmission Fluid Auxiliary Cooler Inlet Pipe (2) - Disconnect - Transmission Fluid Cooler Hose/Pipe Quick-Connect Fitting Disconnection and Connection
- Front Stabilizer Shaft Link (2) @ Front Stabilizer Shaft - Separate - Stabilizer Shaft Link ReplacementNOTE:
Disconnect the left and right sides. Left side shown, right side similar.
- Remove the intermediate shaft pinch bolt (1), then disconnect the intermediate shaft from the steering gear. Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement
- Exhaust Front Pipe - Remove - Exhaust Front Pipe Replacement (LCV)
- Left Front Wheel Drive Shaft - Remove - Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft Replacement - Left Side
- Right Front Wheel Drive Shaft - Remove - Front Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Right Side (LCV, LGX)
- Position an engine support table under the powertrain assembly.
- With the table positioned, fully raise the table to contact with the powertrain assembly.
- Engine Mount Bolt (1) - Remove [2x] - Engine Mount Replacement
- Left Transmission Mount Bolt (3) - Remove [4x] - Transmission Mount Replacement
- Remove the drivetrain and front suspension cradle to body bolts. Drivetrain and Front Suspension Cradle Removal and Installation
- Disconnect electrical connectors as necessary.
- Carefully lower the engine support table and raise the body on the hoist until the engine/transaxle and drivetrain and front suspension cradle are separated from the vehicle.
- Separate the engine from the transaxle. Transmission Replacement (Front Wheel Drive) , or Transmission Replacement (All Wheel Drive with LSY or LCV)
- Install the engine to a suitable engine stand.
NOTE:
During the powertrain removal support the vehicle body by placing a jack at the rear of the vehicle.
NOTE:
Blocks of wood can be used between the front of the drivetrain and front suspension cradle and the oil pan to table in order to level the powertrain during the removal.
NOTE:
Remove ONLY the body to drivetrain and front suspension cradle bolts as the powertrain will be removed while still bolted to the drivetrain and front suspension cradle.
