Installation Procedure

  1. Install a NEW drain plug (2) and seal and tighten to 40 N.m (30 lb ft).

    CAUTION:

    Refer to Component Fastener Tightening Caution .

  2. Fill the transfer case to the bottom of the fill plug hole with the recommended fluid. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers , and Approximate Fluid Capacities .
  3. Install a NEW fill plug (1) and seal and tighten to 40 N.m (30 lb ft).
  4. Install the power transfer unit heat shield, if equipped. Power Transfer Unit Heat Shield Replacement (M3D transmission with LTG engine) 
  5. Lower the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
