Installation Procedure

  1. Apply approximately 3/4 of the supplied grease packet to the inside of the small end of the steering gear boot (1). Apply the remainder of the grease packet to the steering linkage inner tie rod where the small end of the steering gear boot touches the inner tie rod.
  2. Install Steering Gear Boot Inner Clamp (2) @ Steering Gear Boot

    Install a NEW clamp.

    NOTE:
    • The steering gear boot and the steering linkage inner tie rod MUST be free of moisture and debris before installing the steering gear boot.
    • Ensure the steering gear boot is seated in the assembly groove of the steering gear before installing the steering gear boot clamps.
  4. Install Steering Gear Boot (2)

  6. Use the CH-22610  pliers (1) to tighten the steering gear boot inner clamp (2).

  8. Install Steering Gear Boot Outer Clamp (2)
  9. Install Steering Linkage Inner Tie Rod Nut (1)
  10. Install Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod. Refer to Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Replacement 
  11. Measure and adjust the front toe. Refer to Wheel Alignment - Steering Wheel Angle and/or Front Toe Adjustment
