Removal Procedure

CAUTION:

Always connect or disconnect the wiring harness connector from the EBCM/EBTCM with the ignition switch in the OFF position. Failure to observe this precaution could result in damage to the EBCM/EBTCM.

  1. Place the ignition switch in the OFF position.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
  3. Remove the transfer case skid shield, if equipped. Transfer Case Skid Shield Replacement
  4. Clean the area surrounding the electronic brake control module (EBCM) and brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV) assembly of any accumulated dirt and debris.
  5. Disconnect the EBCM electrical connector.

  7. Disconnect the master cylinder primary brake pipe fitting (1).
  8. Cap the brake pipe fitting to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.

  10. Disconnect the master cylinder secondary brake pipe fitting (1).
  11. Cap the brake pipe fitting to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.

  13. Disconnect the right front brake pipe fitting (1).
  14. Cap the brake pipe fitting to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.

  16. Disconnect the left rear brake pipe fitting (1).
  17. Cap the brake pipe fitting to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.

  19. Disconnect the right rear brake pipe fitting (1).
  20. Cap the brake pipe fitting to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.

  22. Disconnect the left front brake pipe fitting (1).
  23. Cap the brake pipe fitting to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.

    NOTE:

    It is not necessary to remove the BPMV bracket bolts.

  25. Through the outboard, left frame rail, loosen, but do not remove, the BPMV bracket bolts (1).
  26. Slide the BPMV and bracket assembly toward the rear of the vehicle and remove the assembly.
  27. If necessary, remove the BPMV bracket. Brake Pressure Modulator Valve Bracket Replacement 
  28. Remove the EBCM, if necessary. Electronic Brake Control Module Replacement
