Removal Procedure
CAUTION:
Refer to Brake Fluid Effects on Paint and Electrical Components Caution .
CAUTION:
Always connect or disconnect the wiring harness connector from the EBCM/EBTCM with the ignition switch in the OFF position. Failure to observe this precaution could result in damage to the EBCM/EBTCM.
- Place the ignition switch in the OFF position.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
- Remove the transfer case skid shield, if equipped. Transfer Case Skid Shield Replacement
- Clean the area surrounding the electronic brake control module (EBCM) and brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV) assembly of any accumulated dirt and debris.
- Disconnect the EBCM electrical connector.
- Disconnect the master cylinder primary brake pipe fitting (1).
- Cap the brake pipe fitting to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
- Disconnect the master cylinder secondary brake pipe fitting (1).
- Cap the brake pipe fitting to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
- Disconnect the right front brake pipe fitting (1).
- Cap the brake pipe fitting to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
- Disconnect the left rear brake pipe fitting (1).
- Cap the brake pipe fitting to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
- Disconnect the right rear brake pipe fitting (1).
- Cap the brake pipe fitting to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
- Disconnect the left front brake pipe fitting (1).
- Cap the brake pipe fitting to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
- Through the outboard, left frame rail, loosen, but do not remove, the BPMV bracket bolts (1).
- Slide the BPMV and bracket assembly toward the rear of the vehicle and remove the assembly.
- If necessary, remove the BPMV bracket. Brake Pressure Modulator Valve Bracket Replacement
- Remove the EBCM, if necessary. Electronic Brake Control Module Replacement
NOTE:
It is not necessary to remove the BPMV bracket bolts.
