Installation Procedure

  1. Position the intermediate steering shaft (1) in the vehicle.

  2. Install Intermediate Steering Shaft (2) @Steering Gear
    3. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  3. Install Intermediate Steering Shaft Lower Bolt (1) and tighten 42 N.m (31 lb ft)
    1. Clean the threads of the bolt with denatured alcohol or equivalent and allow to dry.
    2. Apply thread locking adhesive to the bolt. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers

  4. Install Intermediate Steering Shaft (2) @Steering Column
  5. Install Intermediate Steering Shaft Upper Bolt (1) and tighten 42 N.m (31 lb ft)
    1. Clean the threads of the bolt with denatured alcohol or equivalent and allow to dry.
    2. Apply thread locking adhesive to the bolt. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers 
  6. Install Instrument Panel Insulator - Left Side Instrument Panel Insulator Replacement - Left Side
  7. Center the steering angle sensor. Steering Wheel Angle Sensor Centering
