Removal Procedure

  1. Remove Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Noise Shield. Refer to Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Noise Shield Replacement 
  2. Remove and DISCARD Fuel Feed Intermediate Pipe. Refer to Fuel Feed Intermediate Pipe Replacement 
  3. Remove and DISCARD Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Fuel Pressure Sensor. Refer to Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Fuel Pressure Sensor Replacement 
  4. Disconnect the wiring harness from the fuel injection fuel rail harness.
  5. Remove the fuel injection fuel rail assembly bolts and rubber grommets.

    CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

    NOTE:

    Use care to avoid contact with the fuel rail harness during special tool installation and fuel rail removal.

  6. Install the EN-49248  remover (1) into the outermost fuel injection rail assembly bolt locations and tighten the studs to 22 N.m (16 lb ft).
  7. Install the EN-49248  remover (2) onto each stud and engage the hooks to the fuel injection fuel rail. Install the nuts (3) retaining the remover onto the studs and tighten until snug.

    NOTE:
    • The hook of the portion of the EN-49248  remover MUST be properly seated on the underside of the fuel injection fuel rail.
    • Turn BOTH handles simultaneously, in small, even increments.
    • Do NOT twist the fuel injector fuel rail while removing.
  8. Use the EN-49248  remover to remove the fuel injection fuel rail.
