Installation Procedure

- With the aid of an assistant, position the rear axle assembly (1) to rear leaf springs.
- Install the U-bolts.
- Position the anchor plates (3) under the axle.
- Install the U-bolt nuts (1) and washers (2). Refer to Rear Leaf Spring Replacement (Left Side without ZR2)Rear Leaf Spring Replacement (Right Side without ZR2)Rear Leaf Spring Replacement (Right Side with ZR2)Rear Leaf Spring Replacement (Left Side with ZR2)

Tighten
- Tighten nuts in sequence 1, 2, 3, 4
- First pass 80 N.m (59 lb ft)
- Final Pass 130 degrees
- Install the bottom shock absorber nut (2) and bolt (1) and tighten the bolt to 160 N.m (118 lb ft).
- Install the mounting bolts for the backing plates and tighten to 130 N.m (96 lb ft).
- Install the rear parking brake cable eye to the park brake actuator lever (1). Refer to Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement (Left)Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement (Right) .
- Install the disc brake rotors, lines, and calipers. Refer to Rear Brake Caliper Replacement , and Rear Brake Rotor Replacement .
- Install the rear brake hose assemblies from the axle. Refer to Rear Brake Hose Replacement (Axle to Caliper)Rear Brake Hose Replacement (Frame to Axle) .
- Install the vent hose (2). Refer to Vent Hose Replacement .
- Install the mounting brackets (1) from the rear axle cover.
- Install the bolts (1) for the rear brake pipe retainers.
- Install the clip (1) retaining the rear brake lines to the rear axle housing.
- Install the propeller shaft (1). Refer to Propeller Shaft Replacement (with MYB)Propeller Shaft Replacement (with N8D)Propeller Shaft Replacement (M5T with 2WD)Propeller Shaft Replacement (M5T with 4WD) .
- Fill the rear axle with fluid. Refer to Rear Axle Lubricant Replacement (200mm Axle) Rear Axle Lubricant Replacement (220mm Axle) .
- Lower the vehicle.

NOTE:
Mark location and orientation of the rotor to the hub on each side.
