Circuit/System Testing

IMPORTANT:
Verify the DVD player in the radio is operating normally before performing this diagnostic procedure. If there is any problems with operating the DVD player, refer to Symptoms - Entertainment
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the X3 harness connector at the A11 radio.
- Ignition ON, test for less then 1 volt between the appropriate signal circuit terminals listed below and ground.
- Auxiliary audio left signal (+) - terminal 3
- Auxiliary audio right signal (+) - terminal 13
- Auxiliary audio drain wire (-) - terminal 14
- Auxiliary video signal (+) - terminal 7
- Auxiliary video drain wire (+) - terminal 17
- If greater then specified range, test the circuit for a short to voltage.
- Test for infinite resistance between the terminals listed below and ground.
- Auxiliary audio left signal (+) - terminal 3
- Auxiliary audio right signal (+) - terminal 13
- Auxiliary audio drain wire (-) - terminal 14
- Auxiliary video signal (+) - terminal 7
- Auxiliary video drain wire (+) - terminal 17
- If less then the specified value, test the circuit for a short to ground.
- Test for less then 5 ohm between the terminals on the radio X3 harness connector and the external terminals on the X82 audio/video adaptor listed below:
- Auxiliary audio left signal (+) - terminal 3 and the inside of the center (white) jack
- Auxiliary audio right signal (+) - terminal 13 and the inside of the right (red) jack
- Auxiliary audio drain wire (-) - terminal 14 and the outside of both the center (white), and the right (red) jacks
- Auxiliary video signal (+) - terminal 7 and the inside of the left (yellow) jack
- Auxiliary video drain wire (+) - terminal 17 and the outside of the left (yellow) jack
- If greater then the specified value, test the circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the X82 audio/video adaptor.
- If all circuits test normal, replace the radio.
