Installation Procedure

  1. Support the fuel tank.

  3. Connect the fuel sender electrical connector (1).
  4. Connect the EVAP vent valve electrical connector (2).
  5. Connect the fuel pressure sensor electrical connector (8).

  7. Install the fuel tank straps.
  8. CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .
  9. Install the fuel tank strap attaching bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 32 N.m (24 lb ft).

  11. Remove the caps from the fuel and EVAP pipes.
  12. Connect the fuel feed pipe (1) and the EVAP pipe (2). Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .

  14. Connect the fuel fill pipe to the fuel tank.

    Tighten:  Tighten the fuel fill hose clamp to 2.5 N.m (22 lb in).

  15. Connect the fuel filler pipe recirculation hose to the fuel tank. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .

  17. Connect the EVAP purge pipe. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .
  18. Connect the EVAP canister solenoid pipe. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .
  19. Connect the EVAP canister fresh air pipe. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .
  20. Lower the vehicle.
  21. Refill the fuel tank.
  22. Install the fuel filler cap.
  23. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  24. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  25. Inspect for leaks.
    1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF for 10 seconds.
    2. Turn OFF the ignition for 10 seconds.
    3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
    4. Inspect for fuel leaks.
  26. Install the fuel tank shield, if equipped. Refer to Fuel Tank Shield Replacement .
  27. Install the frame brace. Refer to Frame Brace Replacement .
  28. Lower the vehicle.
