Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the VES actuator.
  2. Test for greater than 1 Mega ohm between the ground control terminal 1 and ground.
    • If less than the specified range, test the ground control circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the EBCM.
  3. Ignition ON, with a scan tool command the actuator ON 10%, verify less than 50 ohms.
    • If greater than the specified range, test the ground control circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the EBCM.
  4. Test for less than 2 volts between the voltage control terminal 2 and ground with the actuator command state at 0.
    • If greater than the specified range, test the voltage control circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the EBCM.
    • If not the specified value, test the control circuit for a short to ground.
  5. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the VES actuator.
