Throttle Body: Installation

NOTE: EVAP canister may have released carbon particles which could cause damage to throttle body and/or other components. Check EVAP canister for loose carbon. See EVAP SYSTEM CLEANING  under EMISSION SYSTEMS & SUB-SYSTEMS.
NOTE: With the engine OFF, check to see that the accelerator pedal is free, by depressing the pedal to the floor and releasing.

Clean gasket surface on intake manifold and throttle body. Install NEW flange gasket. Install throttle body assembly. Install throttle body bolts and tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . To complete installation, reverse removal procedure.



  1. Clean gasket surface on intake manifold and throttle body. Install throttle body assembly using NEW flange gasket. Install throttle body studs and air cleaner outlet duct adapter stud and tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  2. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Check for unrestricted and complete throttle opening and closing positions by operating the accelerator pedal in order to prevent vehicle damage. Also check for poor carpet fit under the accelerator pedal. Throttle should operate freely without binding between fully closed and wide open throttle.
