Removal Procedure

  1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Fig 1: Disconnecting/Connecting Air Inlet & Outlet Pipes From AIR Pump

  3. Disconnect both the air inlet and air outlet pipe from the secondary air injection reaction (AIR) pump.
  4. Lower the vehicle.

  6. Remove the cylinder head. Refer to Cylinder Head Replacement in Engine Mechanical - 4.2L.
  7. Remove the bolt and fir-tree fasteners securing the AIR pipe to the cylinder head.
