Installation Procedure

Install the new seal ring.
Use the J 36608 in order to reinstall the sender.
Place the tank in the shield.

Raise the tank and shield slightly and reconnect the fuel pressure hoses (1), the vent line (2), and the electrical connections at the sender.

Raise the tank and shield fully.

Reinstall the fuel tank filler neck on to the tank.
NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE .
Install the clamp.
Tighten

Tighten the clamp to 2.5 N.m (22 lb in).

Install the frame mounted bracket.
Install the nuts.
Tighten

Tighten the nuts to 33 N.m (25 lb ft).

Install the fuel tank brackets with the insulator strips in place.
NOTE: Refer to FUEL TANK STRAP FASTENER NOTICE .
Tighten the strap bolts.
Tighten

Tighten the strap bolts to 45 N.m (33 lb ft).
Replenish the fuel in the tank.
Reinstall the fuel tank filler cap.
Reconnect the negative battery cable. If a memory retention device was not used, reset (to the extent possible) all of the devices that lost their memory after the battery was disconnected.
Check for leaks.
1. 15.1. Turn ON the ignition switch for 2 seconds.
2. 15.2. Turn OFF the ignition switch for 10 seconds.
3. 15.3. Again, turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
4. 15.4. Check for fuel leaks.
