Body Rear End Diagnostic System Check

  1. Ensure ignition switch is in OFF position. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). If scan tool comes on, go to next step. If scan tool does not turn on, see TEST B: SCAN TOOL INOPERATIVE  under SYSTEM TESTS.
  2. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Attempt to communicate with BCM. If scan tool communicates with BCM, go to next step. If scan tool does not communicate with BCM, see TEST A: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE  under SYSTEM TESTS.
  3. Select scan tool to display DTCs for BCM. If DTCs are displayed, go to next step. If no DTCs are displayed, repair by symptom.
  4. If scan tool displays DTCs which begin with "U", see TEST A: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE  under SYSTEM TESTS. If any other DTCs are recorded, go to next step.
  5. If scan tool displays DTCs B1000, B1004, B1007, or B1009, see DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS . If any other DTCs are listed, go to next step.
  6. If scan tool displays DTCs B1327, B1513, or B1514 see ENGINE ELECTRICAL DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
