Test F: Traction Off Indicator Inoperative
- Perform diagnostic system check. See DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. After performing diagnostic system check, go to next step.
- Using scan tool, command TRACTION OFF indicator light on and off. If indicator light turns on and off with each command, problem is intermittent. If indicator light does not turn on and off with each command, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Remove traction assist switch. Connect a test light between the ignition 1 voltage circuit (at traction assist switch harness connector) and a good ground. Turn ignition on. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step 8.
- Connect test light between ignition 1 voltage circuit and service traction control signal circuit at traction assist switch harness connector. Using scan tool, command TRACTION OFF indicator light on and off. If test light turns on and off with each command, go to step 6. If test light does not turn on and off with each command, go to next step.
- Check service traction control signal circuit for open or short to voltage. Repair as necessary. After repairs, go to step 11. If circuit is okay, go to step 7.
- Check for poor connections at traction assist switch. Repair as necessary. After repairs, go to step 11. If connections are okay, go to step 9.
- Check for poor connections at EBCM harness connector. Repair as necessary. After repairs, go to step 11. If connections are okay, go to step 10.
- Repair open in the ignition 1 voltage circuit. After repairs, go to step 11.
- Replace traction assist switch. After replacing switch, go to step 11.
- Replace EBCM. After replacing EBCM, go to next step.
- Using scan tool, command TRACTION OFF indicator light on and off. If indicator light turns on and off with each command, system is okay. If indicator light does not turn on and off with each command, go to step 3.
