Charge Indicator Light Always On

  1. Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect generator connector. Turn ignition on. If charge indicator light is on, go to next step. If charge indicator light is off, go to step  3 .
  2. Check charge indicator control circuit (Brown wire) for short to ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If problem was not found, go to step  4 . If problem was found, repair as necessary and go to step  5 .
  3. Replace generator. See GENERATOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Go to step  5 .
  4. Replace Vehicle Control Module (VCM) and retest. See REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION - CARS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE.
  5. Operate system in order to verify repair.
