Message Center: Notes
This cluster contains a message center module which can sequentially display up to 17 messages or ISO symbols. In the event that more than one message is required to be displayed to the driver in 5 second intervals or 15 second intervals.
This feature provides the driver with specific warning/status messages associated with certain vehicle malfunctions and/or instructions to perform. Many messages coincide with indicators and DTC's that may be set. Possible messages that may be displayed by the cluster and what system is responsible for sending the request are shown in Fig 1 .
Message center is located on left side of instrument cluster. When ignition switch is turned to ON position, entire message center illuminates for a few seconds. Message center will display following messages as needed. There are 2 display types for messages:
- Once An Ignition Cycle
A message is sequenced into the message center display once per ignition cycle for 15 seconds. - Continuous
A message is sequenced into the message center display for 5 second intervals. If only one message is to be displayed in the message center, the message will not blink between these intervals so that the message appears to be displayed continuously. If another message is added, the display will cycle between messages. The new message will then be displayed for a 5 second interval.
