Diagnostic Procedures
- Perform BCM diagnostic system check. See BCM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SYSTEM TESTS. After performing system check, go to next step.
- Turn ignition on. Ensure dimmer switch is in mid position. Close all doors. If courtesy lights are on at all times, go to next step. If courtesy lights are not on at all times, go to step 5).
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Light Blue 24-pin BCM connector. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . Remove connector comb from Light Blue BCM connector. Turn ignition on. Using DVOM connected to ground, measure voltage (backprobe) at Light Blue 24-pin BCM connector terminal A3 (Gray/Black wire). If battery voltage exists, go to step 11). If battery voltage does not exist, go to next step.
- Repair short to ground in Gray/Black wire between Light Blue 24-pin BCM connector terminal A3 and courtesy light relay. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . After repairs, go to step 12).
- Connect fused jumper wire between Light Blue 24-pin BCM connector terminal A3 (Gray/Black wire) and ground. If courtesy lights turn on, go to step 11). If courtesy lights do not turn on, go to next step.
- Remove courtesy light relay from Body Bussed Electrical Center (BBEC). See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . Disconnect Light Blue 24-pin BCM connector. Remove connector comb from Light Blue BCM connector. Using DVOM, measure resistance of Gray/Black wire between Light Blue 24-pin BCM connector terminal A3 and BBEC courtesy light relay cavity No. 2. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to step 10).
- Using DVOM connected to ground, measure voltage at BBEC courtesy light relay cavity No. 5. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, go to step 9).
- Replace courtesy light relay. After replacing relay, go to step 12).
- Replace BBEC. After replacing BBEC, go to step 12).
- Repair open in Gray/Black wire between Light Blue 24-pin BCM connector terminal A3 and courtesy light relay. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . After repairs, go to step 12).
- Replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Program BCM and perform relearn procedure. See PROGRAMMING . After programming module, go to next step.
- Clear DTCs. After clearing DTCs, perform BCM diagnostic system check. See BCM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SYSTEM TESTS.
