Battery Undercharged Or Overcharged

  1. Start engine and run at fast idle. Ensure all accessories are off. Check battery voltage. If voltage is 13-15 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not 13-15 volts, go to step 3).
  2. Turn engine off. Check voltage at BAT terminal of generator (if accessible). If battery voltage exists, go to step 5). If battery voltage does not exist, go to step 4).
  3. Disconnect generator connector. Turn ignition on. Check voltage at generator harness connector terminal (Red Wire). If battery voltage exists, go to step 6). If battery voltage does not exist, go to next step.
  4. Repair circuit between fusible link and generator. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Retest system.
  5. Load test battery. Recharge or replace as needed. Retest system.
  6. Bench test generator. Repair or replace as needed. Retest system.
