DTC B3031: Controller In Learn Mode: Testing

  1. Perform system check. See SYSTEM CHECK  under SYSTEM TESTS. Go to next step.
  2. Using scan tool, check for DTCs. If DTC B3031 is only current code, go to next step. If other DTCs exist, go to step 7).
  3. Turn ignition to CRANK position, then release to RUN. Ensure DTC B3031 is current. Check for valid passlock data window on scan tool. If data window display is between 1 and 10, go to step 8). If data window display is not between 1 and 10, go to next step.
  4. Using scan tool, check for DTCs. If DTC B3031 is only current code, go to next step. If other DTCs exist, diagnose and repair other DTCs first.
  5. Check for open in Yellow wire between Blue TBC connector C2 terminal B3 and sensor connector C2 terminal B3. Repair as necessary. If repair was performed, go to step 10). If wire is okay, go to next step.
  6. Replace sensor. Perform learn procedure under PROGRAMMING  .
  7. If other current DTCs exist, diagnose and repair other DTCs first. If no other current DTCs exist, go to step 10).
  8. Replace TBC module. Go to next step.
  9. Program TBC module. Perform learn procedure. See PROGRAMMING  . Go to next step.
  10. Reconnect all connectors and components. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, clear all DTCs. Perform SYSTEM CHECK  under SYSTEM TESTS.
