Lock-Out Prevention Feature Does Not Operate

  1. Install scan tool. Turn ignition on, with engine off. Using scan tool, check if Truck Body Control (TBC) module related DTC(s) are present. If DTC(s) are present, go to BODY CONTROL MODULE article. If no DTC(s) are present, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect TBC module Light Blue and Purple harness connectors. Connect and leave test light connected between TBC module harness connector Light Blue harness connector terminal B9 (Brown wire) and Brown wire harness connector terminal A2 (Orange wire). See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step 5).
  3. Disconnect 48-pin body harness-to-steering column harness connector. Connector is located near left front of instrument panel. Observe test light. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step 11).
  4. Repair short to ground in Light Green wire between TBC module and key buzzer. After repairs, recheck system operation.
  5. Connect and leave test light connected between TBC module Purple harness connector terminal B4 (Orange wire) and Brown harness connector terminal A2 (Orange wire). Ensure driver-side door is closed. Observe test light. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step 9).
  6. Remove driver-side door jamb switch. Check if door jamb switch is operating properly. If switch is okay, go to next step. If switch is faulty, go to step 8).
  7. Repair short to ground in Tan wire to door jamb switch. After repairs, recheck system operation.
  8. Replace driver-side door jamb switch. After replacing switch, recheck system operation.
  9. Open driver-side door. Observe test light. If test light illuminates, system is okay.
  10. Repair open in Tan wire to door jamb switch. After repairs, recheck system operation.
  11. Replace ignition key alarm switch. After replacing switch, recheck system operation.
  12. Remove driver-side door jamb switch. Check is door jamb switch is operating properly. If switch is okay, go to step 10). If switch is faulty, go to step 8).
  13. Connect and leave test light connected between TBC module Light Blue harness connector terminal B11 (Dark Blue/White wire) and Brown harness connector terminal A2 (Orange/Black wire). Ensure all doors including liftgate/endgate are closed. Observe test light. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step 15).
  14. Disconnect right rear, left rear, and liftgate/endgate switches. Observe test light when disconnecting each switch. If test light turns off when a switch is disconnected, go to step 16). If test light does not turn off after all the switches are disconnected, go to step 19).
  15. Open and close passenger-side door(s), one at a time. If test light illuminates after each door is opened, go to step 17). If test light does not illuminate after each door is opened, go to step 18).
  16. Replace defective door jamb switch. After replacing switch, recheck system operation.
  17. Replace TBC module. After replacing module, recheck system operation.
  18. Repair open in Dark Blue/White wire to passenger-side door switch. After repairs, recheck system operation.
  19. Repair short to ground in Dark Blue/White wire to passenger-side door switch. After repairs, recheck system operation.
