DTC B3031: Controller In Learn Mode: Testing
- Perform system check. See SYSTEM CHECK under SYSTEM TESTING. If DTC is a history code, clear codes and repeat SYSTEM CHECK under SYSTEM TESTING. If DTC is not a history code, go to next step.
- Check voltage by backprobing between PASSLOCK(R) 3-pin sensor harness connector C266 terminals D3 (Yellow wire) and C4 (Orange/Black wire) while momentarily turning ignition switch to START position. If voltage is .8-4.3 volts, go to step 15). If voltage is not .8-4.3 volts, go to next step.
- Check PASSLOCK(R) 3-pin sensor connector contacts. If no problem was found, go to next step. If problem was found, repair as necessary. Go to step 15).
- Turn ignition on. Check voltage by backprobing at PASSLOCK(R) 3-pin sensor harness connector C266 terminal C3 (Red/White wire). If voltage is 10 volts or less, go to next step. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to step 8).
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect PASSLOCK(R) 3-pin sensor connector. Check for continuity between PASSLOCK(R) 3-pin sensor harness connector C266 terminal C3 (Red/White wire) and ground. If continuity does not exist, go to next step. If continuity exists, repair short to ground in Red/White wire. Go to step 15).
- Check resistance of Red/White wire between PASSLOCK(R) 3-pin sensor harness connector C266 terminal C3 and PASSLOCK(R) module harness connector terminal A5. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 10 ohms or more, repair open in Red/White wire. Go to step 15).
- Turn ignition off. Connect PASSLOCK(R) module connector. Turn ignition on. Check voltage between PASSLOCK(R) 3-pin sensor harness connector C266 terminal C3 (Red/White wire) and ground. If voltage is 10 volts or less, replace PASSLOCK(R) module. See PASSLOCK(R) MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Go to step 15). If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace PASSLOCK(R) sensor. Go to step 15).
- Ensure ignition is on. Check voltage by backprobing between PASSLOCK(R) 3-pin sensor harness connector C266 terminals D3 (Yellow wire) and C4 (Orange/Black wire). If voltage is 10 volts or less, go to next step. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to step 12).
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect PASSLOCK(R) sensor connector. Turn ignition on. Check voltage between PASSLOCK(R) 3-pin sensor harness connector C266 terminals D3 (Yellow wire) and C4 (Orange/Black wire). If voltage is 10 volts or less, go to next step. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace PASSLOCK(R) sensor. Go to step 15).
- Check resistance of Orange/Black wire between PASSLOCK(R) 3-pin sensor harness connector C266 terminal C4 and PASSLOCK(R) module harness connector terminal B5. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 10 ohms or more, repair open in Orange/Black wire. Go to step 15).
- Check PASSLOCK(R) module connector for poor contacts. If no problem was found, replace PASSLOCK(R) module. See PASSLOCK(R) MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If problem was found, repair as necessary. Go to step 15).
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect PASSLOCK(R) sensor connector. Turn ignition on. Check voltage between PASSLOCK(R) 3-pin sensor harness connector C266 terminals D3 (Yellow wire) and C4 (Orange/Black wire). If voltage is 4-6 volts, replace PASSLOCK(R) sensor. Go to step 15). If voltage is not 4-6 volts, check PASSLOCK(R) module connector for poor contacts. If no problem was found, go to next step. If contacts are poor, repair as necessary. Go to step 15).
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect PASSLOCK(R) module connector. Check resistance between PASSLOCK(R) module harness connector terminal B7 (Yellow wire) and ground. If resistance is more than 10 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 10 ohms or less, repair short to ground in Yellow wire. Go to step 15).
- Check resistance of Yellow wire between PASSLOCK(R) module harness connector terminal B7 and PASSLOCK(R) 3-pin sensor connector C266 terminal D3. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, replace PASSLOCK(R) module. See PASSLOCK(R) MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Go to next step. If resistance is 10 ohms or more, repair open in Yellow wire. Go to next step.
- Reconnect all connectors and components. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, clear all DTCs. Perform reprogramming procedure. See PROGRAMMING . Perform SYSTEM CHECK under SYSTEM TESTING.
