Speedometer/Odometer Inoperative (Van)

  1. Disconnect instrument cluster connector. Disconnect Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) buffer. VSS buffer is located under left side of instrument panel, near steering column. Vehicle Control Module (VCM) is located on left side of engine compartment. Connect self-powered test light between instrument cluster connector terminal B14 (Dark Green wire) and ground. If test light does not come on, go to next step. If test light comes on, repair short to ground in Dark Green wire.
  2. Connect self-powered test light between instrument cluster connector terminal B14 (Dark Green wire) and VSS buffer connector terminal No. 15. If test light comes on, replace instrument cluster. If test light does not come on, repair open circuit in Dark Green wire.
