Air In Fuel System
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1995 Dodge Pickup and 1995 Dodge Cab & Chassis. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Air in fuel system can cause no-start condition, hard starting, rough running, low power, excessive smoke and fuel knock.
- Inspect fuel lines and connections for signs of fuel leakage. If a leak is suspected on high pressure line, start engine (if possible) and trace leak using a sheet of cardboard.NOTE: DO NOT put your hand near a leaking high pressure fuel line, as extremely high fuel pressure can cause personal injury.
- After repairing source of fuel leak, bleed air from fuel system. See REMOVE/INSTALL/OVERHAUL - 5.9L DIESEL article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section.
