Repair and Diagnosis: Transmission: Clutches: Description

The hydraulic clutch consists of a clutch plate, pressure plate and pilot bearing. Hydraulic clutch has a master cylinder with a reservoir. Clutch pedal moves master cylinder push rod, and a slave (actuator) cylinder at bellhousing moves clutch fork and release bearing. See Fig 1.

Hydraulic clutch system provides automatic clutch adjustment. No adjustment of clutch linkage or pedal position is required.

On "S" and "T" series vehicles with 2.2L engine, no service is possible to individual components. Complete pre-filled, pre-bled unit must be installed when servicing hydraulic clutch. See Fig 4.
