Fuel Pump Pressure Test
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1995 Dodge Pickup and 1995 Dodge Cab & Chassis. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Begin basic diagnosis of fuel system by determining fuel system pressure. Release fuel pressure. See FUEL PRESSURE RELEASE under FUEL PRESSURE .
- Remove fuel rail test port protective cap. Connect a fuel pressure gauge with a minimum 60-psi (414-kPa) capacity to fuel rail test port. Test port is located at front of engine. Start engine and allow to idle. If pressure is more than 45 psi (310 kPa), fuel pump is okay. Replace fuel filter/fuel pressure regulator assembly located on top of fuel pump module. If pressure is zero psi, perform diagnostics using DRB. See CHRYSLER CORP. SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - 8.0L article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section.
