DTC 33, EGR Control Pressure/BARO Sensor CKT High (Low Vac): Notes

Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) control pressure/BARO sensor monitors amount of vacuum in EGR circuit and sends a signal back to PCM. Signal is compared to EGR duty cycle calculated by PCM.

On "G" Series, DTC 33 will set when:

On "P" Series, DTC 33 will set when:

BARO is greater than 105 kPa for 2 seconds.

On "G" Series, PCM will default to shutting down EGR system. On "P" Series, PCM will default to a fixed BARO value.

NOTE: Test numbers refer to numbers on diagnostic chart.
  1. This step determines if DTC 33 is result of a hard failure or an intermittent condition.
  2. This step simulates conditions for a DTC 31. If PCM recognizes change, PCM, EGR control pressure/BARO signal circuit and 5-volt reference circuit are okay.
