Distributor (HVI - High Value Ignition System): Removal

  1. Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect spark plugs and coil leads from HVS cap. Disconnect 3-wire camshaft position sensor plug from base of HVS. Remove 2 screws holding cap to HVS housing.
  2. Mark HVS cap with a grease pencil to indicate position of rotor to housing. Loosen mounting clamp hold-down bolt and slide clamp back.
  3. Remove HVS. See Figure. When HVS is being removed rotor will rotate approximately 42 degrees. Place a second mark at this position for reassembly reference. If the original HVS is being replaced, transfer marks made during removal to replacement component.
