When predetermined temperature is reached, coolant temperature switch closes, causing the relay contacts to close. This allows battery voltage to the cooling fan motor. Coolant temperature switch is located on right cylinder head, above center of exhaust manifold. Relay is located in engine compartment, on left inner fender, near engine compartment firewall ("C" and "K" Series), or at center of firewall ("G" and "P" Series).
