  1. Lubricate all "O" rings, seals, pump ring, rotor and vanes with power steering fluid. Install NEW sleeve assembly. Using press, seat sleeve assembly into pump housing from pressure plate side of steering pump. See Fig 1 . Lubricate NEW "O" ring with power steering fluid and install into groove of sleeve assembly.
  2. Install dowel pin and pressure plate spring into housing. Lubricate NEW "O" ring with power steering fluid and install into groove of pressure plate. Reference mark top of pressure plate directly over dowel pin hole located on under side of pressure plate. Align mark on pressure plate to dowel pin previously installed into steering pump housing. Install pressure plate into housing engaging, dowel pin into pressure plate dowel pin hole.
  3. Install 2 pump ring dowel pins. Install pump rotor into housing with counterbore facing drive shaft side of steering pump. Install vanes into slots of pump rotor. Install pump ring on 2 pump ring dowel pins. Lubricate NEW "O" ring with power steering fluid and install into groove of steering pump housing.
  4. Lubricate outer edge of thrust plate. Install thrust plate into housing, aligning dimples in thrust plate to steering pump bolt holes. Ensure thrust plate engages 2 pump ring dowel pins. Press thrust plate on far enough to install thrust plate retaining ring. Install thrust plate retaining ring into groove in housing with ring opening centered with bolt hole in steering pump nearest to access hole.
  5. Lubricate NEW drive shaft seal with power steering fluid. Using socket, install seal into pump housing. Install bearing onto drive shaft, pressing bearing to shoulder of drive shaft or to within clearance measurement made between drive shaft shoulder and inner bearing race during disassembly.
  6. Install drive shaft and ball bearing assembly into steering pump. Rotate drive shaft engaging shaft serration with steering pump rotor. Install retaining ring onto housing.
  7. Install flow control spring and control valve assembly into housing. Install NEW "O" ring onto union fitting. Install union fitting into steering pump and tighten to specification.
