Section 100 (Drive Axle - DANA Full-Floating): Description

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 22 other vehicles, including the 1991 GMC Vandura Special, 1991 GMC Vandura, 1991 GMC Value Van, 1991 GMC Suburban, and 1991 GMC Rally Camper Special. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The 9 3/4" and 10 1/2" ring gear rear axles use a conventional ring and pinion assembly to transmit the driving force of the engine to the rear wheels. The axle shaft is supported at wheel ends by wheel hubs. The bolts attaching shaft to hub also support the axle. The splined end of shaft is supported by differential.
