Carburetor - ROCHESTER M4ME & M4MEF 4-Bbl: Description

The M4M-series carburetors are all 4-barrel, two-stage carburetors. There are 3 major sub-assemblies consisting of an air horn, float bowl and throttle body. The secondary side is composed of 2 large bores using the air valve principle (fuel is metered in direct proportion to amount of air passing through secondary bores). Vehicles equipped with manual transmission use an Idle Stop Solenoid (ISS). The ISS provides necessary idle speed and prevents dieseling.
