Window Regulator & Motor: Notes

CAUTION: Disconnect electrical connections before removing regulator assembly from window.
  1. Raise window to full "UP" position and tape glass to door frame to prevent it from falling. Disconnect battery negative cable and remove door trim panel. On "S" series, remove door trim panel, armrest bracket and inner panel water deflector.
  2. On "C" and "K" series, remove remote control bolts and place control assembly aside, if necessary. On all models, remove regulator-to-door panel attaching screws.
  3. On "C", "K" and "M" series, disconnect harness from regulator. On "C" and "K" series, slide regulator assembly rearward, disengaging rollers from sash panel. On "M" series, remove rivets attaching regulator to inner panel. On "C", "K" and "M" series, remove regulator assembly.
  4. On "S" series, disconnect harness from motor. Disengage roller or regulator lift arm from glass run channel. Remove regulator through access hole.
WARNING: Regulator lift arm is under tension from counterbalance spring, sector gear must be locked to avoid personal injury.
  5. On "C" and "K" series, drill a hole through sector gear and back plate. Do not drill closer than 1/2" (13 mm) to edge of sector gear or back plate. On "C", "K" and "M" series, install sheet metal screw (No. 10 - 12 X 3/4") into hole to lock sector gear. Remove motor-to-regulator attaching screws (rivets on "M" series) and remove regulator from motor.
  6. On "S" series, drill a hole through regulator sector gear and back plate and install a bolt and nut to lock sector gear. Using a 3/16" drill bit, drill out motor attaching rivets and remove rotor.
