Speed Sensor Test
- Turn ignition switch on and place cruise control switch in "ON" position. With speedometer turning (either through wheels or by hand), measure voltage by probing terminal "D" of control module with all connections mated. If voltage varies at around 4 volts, replace control module.
- If voltage is not present, disconnect connector at VSS buffer. Measure voltage at connector cavity of wire that goes to terminal "D" of control module. Voltage reading should be 8.2 volts. If reading is correct, service vehicle speed sensor.
- If voltage is incorrect, probe wire at terminal "D" with connector at VSS buffer still disconnected. If voltage reading is 8.2 volts, locate open in wire from control module to VSS buffer and repair as necessary. If voltage is incorrect, replace control module.
