TPMS Reminder Reset - Procedure 34
If refilling a low tire, no specific reset procedure is required. All warnings are extinguished once the TPMS receives a signal that all tires are properly inflated.
Each TPMS sensor has a unique identification code. The identification code needs to be matched to a new tire/wheel position after rotating the tires or replacing one or more of the TPMS sensors. The TPMS sensor matching process should also be performed after replacing a spare tire with a road tire containing the TPMS sensor. The malfunction light and the DIC message should go off at the next ignition cycle. The sensors are matched to the tire/ wheel positions, using a TPMS relearn tool.
- Set the tire pressure of all wheels to pressure specified on the tire and loading information label.
- Turn the ignition to ON/RUN with the engine OFF. Set the parking brake.
- Up-level Driver Information Center (DIC) Only: Make sure the TIRE PRESSURE INFO page option is turned on. The info pages on the DIC can be turned on and off through the SETTINGS menu.
-
- Up-Level DIC : Use the DIC controls (arrow buttons) on the right side of the steering wheel to scroll to the TIRE PRESSURE screen under the DIC info page.
- Base-Level DIC : Use the MENU button to select the Vehicle Information menu in the DIC. Use the thumbwheel to scroll to the Tire Pressure Menu item screen. See Figure.
-
- Up-Level DIC : Press and hold the SET/RESET button (check-mark symbol) located in the center of the DIC controls.
- Base-Level DIC : Press the SET/CLR button to begin the sensor matching process. A message asking if the process should begin should appear. Press the SET/CLR button again to confirm the selection.
- The horn sounds twice to signal the receiver is in relearn mode and the TIRE LEARNING ACTIVE message displays on the DIC screen.
- Starting with left front tire, hold a tire sensor activation tool against the side wall of the tire, within 3 inches of the valve stem. Activate tool until a horn chirp sounds.
- After horn chirp has sounded and the right turn signal has illuminated, proceed to the next 3 sensors in the following order: right front, right rear and left rear.
- After left rear sensor has been learned, the horn sounds two times to indicate the sensor identification code has been matched to the driver side rear tire, and the TPMS sensor matching process is no longer active. The TIRE LEARNING ACTIVE message on the DIC display screen goes off.
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK/OFF.
- Set all four tires to the recommended air pressure level as indicated on the Tire and Loading Information label.
