Pinpoint Test BO: P0A0A:13

  1. NOTE: The Inverter System Controller (ISC) is referred to as the SOBDMC (Secondary On-Board Diagnostic Control Module C) in the scan tool.

Refer to Charging System for schematic and connector information.

    Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

REFER to: Electric Powertrain Control - System Operation and Component Description .

    DTC Fault Trigger Conditions

    DTC Description Fault Trigger Condition
SOBDMC P0A0A:13 High Voltage System Interlock Circuit 'A': Circuit Open This DTC sets when a high voltage interlock circuit at the Inverter System Controller (ISC) goes open.

    Possible Causes

    • Wiring, terminals or connectors
    • Inverter System Controller (ISC)

WARNING: To prevent the risk of high-voltage shock, always follow precisely all warnings and service instructions, including instructions to depower the system. The high-voltage system utilizes approximately 300 volts DC, provided through high-voltage cables to its components and modules. The high-voltage cables and wiring are identified by orange harness tape or orange wire covering. All high-voltage components are marked with high-voltage warning labels with a high-voltage symbol. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious personal injury or death.
NOTE: Use the correct probe adapter (s) from the Flex Probe Kit when taking measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter (s) may damage the connector.
  2. BO1 REVIEW AND RECORD THE INTERLOCK DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)

    • Ignition ON.

    • Using a scan tool, clear all DTC s.

    • Using a scan tool, perform the Inverter System Controller (ISC) self-test and record the DTC s.

    Is DTC P0A0A:13 present?

    Yes  GO to  BO3
No  The concern is not present at this time. The concern may be have been related to prior repair or service that included disconnecting the service disconnect or a high voltage cable.
  3. BO2 INSPECT THE INVERTER SYSTEM CONTROLLER (ISC) CONNECTOR

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Check that the Inverter System Controller (ISC) C199C is fully seated.

    Is the connector fully seated?

    Yes  GO to  BO3
No  Repair as necessary. CLEAR the DTC s and REPEAT the self-test.
  4. BO3 CHECK FOR AN OPEN IN THE HIGH VOLTAGE CABLE INTERLOCK STAPLE FOR THE INVERTER SYSTEM CONTROLLER (ISC)

    • Use this image as reference when performing the following test.

      C199C-3

Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?

    Yes  GO to  BO4
No  INSTALL a new (14B322) High Voltage cable assembly.
  5. BO4 CHECK FOR CORRECT INVERTER SYSTEM CONTROLLER (ISC) OPERATION

    • Inspect Inverter System Controller (ISC) C199C interlock pins.

    • For:

      • corrosion
      • damaged or bent pins
      • pushed-out pins

    • Reconnect the Inverter System Controller (ISC) SOBDMC connector. Make sure it seats and latches correctly.

    • Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present?

    Yes  GO to  BO5
No  The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. Address the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
  6. BO5 CHECK FOR AN OPEN IN THE HIGH VOLTAGE INTERLOCK STAPLE FOR THE INVERTER SYSTEM CONTROLLER (ISC)

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Remove the Inverter System Controller (ISC) side cover. When removing side cover, pull cover straight out approximately 2 inches before moving upwards or damage to the high voltage interlock connector may occur. REFER to: Inverter System Controller [SOBDMC] .

Inverter System Controller (ISC) side cover pin 2

Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?

    Yes  GO to  BO6
No  INSTALL a new Inverter System Controller (ISC) side cover.
  7. BO6 CHECK THE INVERTER SYSTEM CONTROLLER (ISC) SIDE COVER

    • Verify the seal. Check for signs of corrosion.

    • Examine all the high voltage connections for damage and loose or broken conditions.

    • Verify the high voltage terminal bolts are fully seated and torqued to 12 Nm

    Is a concern present?

    Yes  REPAIR as necessary
    No  GO to  BO7
  8. BO7 CHECK FOR INVERTER SYSTEM CONTROLLER (ISC) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)

    • Ignition ON.

    • Using a diagnostic scan-tool, clear the DTC s.

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the Inverter System Controller (ISC) self-test.

Is Inverter System Controller (ISC) DTC P0A0A:13 present?

Yes  CHECK OASIS for any applicable Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs). If a TSB exists for this concern, discontinue this test and follow TSB instructions. If no Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) address this concern, INSTALL a new Inverter System Controller (ISC). REFER to: Inverter System Controller [SOBDMC] .
No  The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections.
