Pinpoint Test T: Stuck In Park

  1. Normal Operation and Fault Conditions 

    • Brake Shift Interlock (BSI) 

      • If the rotary knob can be moved from the park position, but the vehicle remains in park, continue with this pinpoint test.

    • Park actuator control system 

      • Carry out the SOBDMC self-test. If any park system diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) are present, REFER to the Master DTC Chart.

    • Module communication 

      • Carry out the GSM, BCM, and SOBDMC self-tests.

      • If any system voltage, internal module, or module communication diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) are present, REFER to the Master DTC Chart.

    • Gear shift module (GSM) fault 

      • Access the GSM and monitor the GEAR_CMDPID

      • Move the rotary knob to each gear position and stop. If PID GEAR_CMD shows Park while another gear is selected, INSTALL a new GSM. REFER to: Gear Shift Module (GSM) .

    • Electric drive assembly internal park components 

      • Inspect the park lock actuator, park rod, park rod guide, and park pawl. Make sure all components are properly installed, and free of damage or binding. REPAIR or INSTALL new components as necessary. REFER to: Park Lock Actuator .
