Inspection and Verification

  1. Verify the customer concern by operating the transmission external control.
  2. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical and electrical damage, refer to the following chart:

    Visual Inspection Chart 

    Mechanical  Electrical 
    Damaged Brake Shift Interlock Actuator (BSIA) Body Control Module (BCM) fuse(s): 18 (5A)
    Damaged Tow/Haul switch PCM/Transmission Control Module (TCM)
    Damaged Select Shift switch Damaged wiring harness
    Selector lever knob Loose or damaged connections
    Corroded or damaged terminals
  3. If the fault is not visually evident, determine the symptom. GO to Symptom Chart- External Controls  or GO to Symptom Chart - NVH .
