Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU): Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

NOTE: The HCU and ABS module are serviced as an assembly.

NOTE: The PMI process must begin with the current ABS module installed. If the current ABS module does not respond to the diagnostic scan tool, the tool may prompt for As-Built Data as part of the repair.

If installing a new HCU/ ABS module, using a diagnostic scan tool, begin the PMI process for the ABS module following the on-screen instructions.
Remove the battery tray. Refer to: BATTERY TRAY - 2.0L DURATEC-HE (110KW/150PS) - MI4 or BATTERY TRAY - 2.5L DURATEC (125KW/170PS) .
NOTE: Make sure that all openings are sealed.

NOTE: If the fluid is spilled on the paintwork, the affected area must be immediately washed down with cold water.
1. Disconnect the ABS module electrical connector.
2. Disconnect the 6 brake tube fittings.
  Torque
  
  : 159 lb.in (18 Nm)
3. Remove the bolts and separate the HCU from the vehicle.
  Torque
  
  : 89 lb.in (10 Nm)
