Network Message Chart

BCM Network Input Messages 

Broadcast Message Originating Module Message Purpose
PATS start request target data PCM (gas vehicles) The PCM sends the BCM and the ABS module a challenge request for a valid ID.
PATS start request target data SOBDMC (hybrid vehicles) The SOBDMC (Hybrid vehicles sends the BCM a challenge request for a valid ID.
RKE data RTM (remote start vehicles only) The RTM sends the BCM programmed passive key information.
RKE data BCM (non-remote start vehicles only) The BCM receives the programmed passive key information from the BCMs internal receiver.

IPC Network Input Messages 

Broadcast Message Originating Module Message Purpose
Vehicle mode BCM Used by the IPC to display "No Key Detected" when the START/STOP button is pressed and no programmed key is detected within the vehicle.

PCM (gas vehicles) Network Input Messages 

Broadcast Message Originating Module Message Purpose
PATS control command BCM The response from the BCM supplying the PCM target 1 challenge ID. If the BCM ID response is incorrect, then PATS prevents the vehicle from starting.

SOBDMC (hybrid vehicles) Network Input Messages 

Broadcast Message Originating Module Message Purpose
PATS control command BCM The response from the BCM supplying the SOBDMC target 1 challenge ID. If the BCM ID response is incorrect, then PATS prevents the vehicle from starting.

ABS Module Network Input Messages 

Broadcast Message Originating Module Message Purpose
Immobilizer target 1 function PCM (gas vehicle) The immobilizer subtarget function sends a response message to the target 1 challenge message from the PCM.
Immobilizer target 1 function SOBDMC (hybrid vehicles) The immobilizer subtarget function sends a response message to the target 1 challenge message from the SOBDMC.
PATS sub-target command PCM The response from the ABS module supplying the PCM challenge ID. If the ABS module ID response is incorrect, then PATS prevents the vehicle from starting.
