Instrument Panel: Removal
All vehicles
- Depower the SRS. Refer to: Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Depowering .
- Remove both A-pillar trim panels. Refer to: A-Pillar Trim Panel .
- Release the clips and remove the LH instrument panel finish panel.
- Position aside the weather strip.
Use the General Equipment: Interior Trim Remover
- Position aside the weather strip.
- Release the clips and remove the RH instrument panel finish panel.
- Position aside the weather strip.
Use the General Equipment: Interior Trim Remover
- Position aside the weather strip.

NOTE: On both sides.
Release the clips and remove the scuff plate.

- Position aside the weather strip.
- Release the clips and remove the LH lower cowl trim panel.

- Position aside the weather strip.
- Remove the access cover.
- Release the clips and remove the RH lower cowl trim panel.
- Remove both front seats. Refer to: Front Seat .
- If equipped, remove the front center seat. Refer to: Front Center Seat
.
Vehicles with floor console.
- Remove the floor console. Refer to: Floor Console .
Vehicles without floor console
- Remove bolt and the instrument panel lower trim panel.
Torque: 22 lb.in (2.5 Nm)
All vehicles

NOTE: Push button start vehicle shown in illustration, all others similar.
Lower the steering column opening trim panel.
- Detach the harness retainers and disconnect the electrical connectors.
- Remove the 4 bolts and the steering column opening trim panel and reinforcement.
Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)

NOTE: Do not pull or pry on the selector lever cable or the selector lever cable end may be damaged. Use a screwdriver and turn the screwdriver as shown in illustration to pry the cable end off the post as close to the post as possible.
Remove the bolt and position aside the selector lever cable.
Torque: 31 lb.in (3.5 Nm)
- Disconnect the selector lever cable retainer.
- Remove the retainers and position the floor covering rearward.
- Release the retainers and remove the floor duct.
- If equipped, release the push pin, cut the zip ties and remove the harness cover.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors, release the retainers and position aside the harness.

NOTE: Located on RH lower instrument panel.
Release the retainers and remove the insulation panel.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.

- Release the harness retainer.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors.
- Remove the glove compartment door. Refer to: Glove Compartment .

NOTE: Located behind glove compartment door.
Disconnect the electrical connectors.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors.
- Remove the bolt.
Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)

NOTE: located on LH lower cowl.
Disconnect the electrical connectors.

WARNING: Install a new steering column shaft bolt. Reuse could result in bolt failure and loss of vehicle control. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious injury to vehicle occupant(s).NOTE: Do not allow the steering wheel to rotate while the steering column shaft is disconnected or damage to the clockspring may result.
Remove and discard the bolt and disconnect the upper steering column shaft.
Torque: 21 lb.ft (28 Nm)
- Remove the instrument panel access panel.
- If equipped, disconnect the electrical connector.
Use the General Equipment: Interior Trim Remover
- If equipped, disconnect the electrical connector.
- Remove the bolts.
Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)
- Remove the bolt.
Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)
- Remove the RH bolts.
Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)
- If equipped, remove the bolt at the rubber pad.
Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)
- Remove the LH bolts.
Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)

- Remove the bolt.
Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)
- Remove the bolts.
Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)
- Remove the bolt.
- Remove the bolts.
Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

NOTE: To avoid damaging the instrument panel, an assistant is required when carrying out this step.NOTE: Make sure not to damage the instrument panel when removing the instrument panel from the vehicle.NOTE: Make sure that all electrical connectors and wiring are not hindered before removing the instrument panel or damage to the components may occur.
Rotate the instrument panel face down and remove through the LH front door opening.
