Axle Assembly: Removal

  1. Remove the engine rear undershield. Refer to: Engine Rear Undershield .
  2. Remove the LH fender splash shield. Refer to: Fender Splash Shield .
  3. Remove the front driveshaft. Refer to: Front Driveshaft .
  4. Remove the front halfshafts. Refer to: Halfshaft .
    1. Disconnect the ELD electrical connector.
    2. Detach the retainers and position the ELD wiring harness aside.

  6. Remove and discard the front axle carrier upper mounting bracket bolt and the nut.

  7. Using transmission jack, support the front axle assembly. Use the General Equipment: Transmission Jack

  8. Remove and discard the front axle tube bushing bolt. Use the General Equipment: Transmission Jack

  9. Remove and discard the front axle cover bushing bolt. Use the General Equipment: Transmission Jack

    • Highlight the installation mark on the breather hose and tube.

    • Detach the breather hose from tube.

  11. Position the axle assembly slightly towards the center of the vehicle.

  12. Lower the transmission jack and the front axle assembly. Use the General Equipment: Transmission Jack
