Steering Gear Boot: Installation

  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
    1. Place a bead of Silicone Brake Caliper Grease at location shown completely around the inside of the steering gear boot.

      Material: Motorcraft® Silicone Brake Caliper Grease and Dielectric Compound / XG-3-A (ESE-M1C171-A)

    2. Place a bead of Silicone Brake Caliper Grease at location shown completely around the tie rod at the steering gear boot outer clamp location.

      Material: Motorcraft® Silicone Brake Caliper Grease and Dielectric Compound / XG-3-A (ESE-M1C171-A)

  3. Install a new steering gear boot inner clamp. Use the General Equipment: Boot Clamp Pliers

  4. Check and if necessary, adjust front toe. Refer to: Front Toe Adjustment .
