Climate Control Housing: Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

  1. 1.

    Recover the refrigerant. Refer to: Air Conditioning (A/C) System Recovery, Evacuation and Charging .

  1. 2.

    NOTE: Make sure that all openings are sealed.

    Remove the nut and disconnect the thermostatic expansion valve manifold and tube assembly.

    Torque: 71 lb.in (8 Nm)

    NOTE: Make sure that all openings are sealed.

    Pinch off and disconnect the heater core inlet and outlet hoses. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp(s)

    Torque: 71 lb.in (8 Nm)

  1. 4.

    Remove the instrument panel upper section. Refer to: Instrument Panel Upper Section .

  1. 5.

    Remove the retainer and the RH footwell vent duct.

    Remove the retainer, the air deflector and the LH footwell vent duct.

    Remove the air ducts.

    • Position the carpet aside.
    • Disconnect the electrical connectors.
    • Disconnect the climate control housing water drain tube.

    Disconnect the electrical connectors.

  1. 10.

    • Remove the hood latch release handle.
    • Position aside the weather strip.
    • Release the clips and remove the LH scuff plate.
    • Release the clips and remove the LH lower cowl trim panel

  1. 11.

    • Position the carpet aside.
    • Remove the ground strap bolt.

      Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)

    • Release the push pin retainer.

    • Position aside the weather strip.
    • Release the clips and remove the RH scuff plate.
    • Release the clips and remove the RH lower cowl trim panel.

  1. 13.

    • Position the carpet aside.
    • Remove the ground strap bolt.

      Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)

    • Release the push pin retainer.

  1. 14.

    • Position the carpet aside.
    • Disconnect the electrical connectors.
    • Detach the wiring harness retainers and position aside the wiring harness.

  1. 15.

    1. 1.

      Remove the bolts and the LH instrument panel lower support bracket.

      Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

  1. 16.

    Remove both front doors. Refer to: Front Door .

  1. 17.

    On both sides.
    • Remove the bolts.

      Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

      Remove the bolts and the in-vehicle crossbeam assembly.

      Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

  1. 19.

    Detach the retainer and disconnect the electrical connectors.

    Detach the retainer and disconnect the electrical connectors.

  1. 21.

    Remove the retainers and the air plenum bezel.

      If equipped. Disconnect the electrical connectors.

  1. 22.

    Remove the bolts and the climate control housing.

    Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)
