Front Seat Backrest Cover: Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. Remove the front seat. Refer to: Front Seat .
  2. NOTE: Typical head restraint guide sleeve shown, others similar.

    Depress the locking tabs and remove the head restraint.

  3. NOTE: Follow the unique instructions or graphics for this step in installation.
    NOTE: Seat backrest cover removed for clarity.

    Remove the headrest restraint guide sleeves. Use the General Equipment: Flat Headed Screw Driver

  4. Discard the head restraint guide sleeves.

    Power seat 

    1. Remove the screw.

      Torque: 27 lb.in (3 Nm)

    2. Remove the screw.

      Torque: 27 lb.in (3 Nm)

    3. Pull the side shield to release it from the backrest.
    4. Slide the side shield forward.
    5. Disconnect the power seat electrical connector and remove the side shield.

    Manual seat 

  5. Remove the backrest recline handle.

    1. Remove the fastener cover.
    2. Remove the bolt.

      Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)

  6. NOTE: Typical seat shown, others similar.

    If equipped. Remove the seat height adjuster handle.

    1. Lift the handle.
    2. Lift the handle locking tab.
    3. Slide the handle forward and remove.

    1. Remove the screw.

      Torque: 27 lb.in (3 Nm)

    2. Remove the screw.

      Torque: 27 lb.in (3 Nm)

    3. Rotate the back of the side shield.
    4. Slide the side shield forward and remove the side shield.

    All seats 

  7. If equipped. Remove the manual lumbar handle.

  8. NOTE: LH armrest shown, RH similar.

    If equipped. Remove the armrest.

    1. Position the armrest to an approximate 60 degree angle.
    2. Pull the armrest outward to release.

  9. If equipped. Drill out the rivets and remove the folding tray. Use the General Equipment: Electric Drill

  10. Release the backrest cover J-clips from under the seat.

  11. Release the backrest cover J-clips.

    1. Invert the backrest cover.
    2. Release the backrest cover J-clips.

  12. Partially invert the backrest cover and release the support wires from the backrest foam.

    1. Press the backrest cover support wire inward.
    2. Rotate the backrest cover support wire downward and release it from the backrest foam.

  13. Continue to invert the backrest cover and release the backrest cover upper J-clip.

  14. Remove the backrest cover.

    1. NOTE: Follow the unique instruction or graphics for this step in installation.

      Remove the hog rings.

    2. Push the backrest cover support wire upward and rotate to release it from the backrest foam.
