Main Control Cover: Removal

Remove the air cleaner assembly. REFER to: Air Cleaner .

Loosen the transmission mounted transmission fluid cooler inlet tube fitting and remove the transmission mounted transmission fluid cooler inlet tube.
- 7.
Inspect the transmission case to be sure that the transmission mounted transmission fluid cooler inlet tube seal and backing ring were removed with the transmission mounted transmission fluid cooler inlet tube and is not stuck in the transmission case. If the transmission mounted transmission fluid cooler inlet tube seal or backing ring is stuck in the transmission case, remove the seal and backing ring.

Remove the nuts, pull the transmission fluid cooler tube bracket and tubes away from the transmission and position it aside.
- 10.
With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. REFER to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .

Drain the transmission fluid. REFER to: Transmission Fluid Drain and Refill .
- 12.NOTE: Note the location of the stud bolts for assembly.
Remove the bolts, stud bolts and the main control cover.
