Pinpoint Test S : An Individual Button/Feature Is Inoperative From The RKE (Remote Keyless Entry) Transmitter

  1. S1 VERIFY THE DOOR LOCK OPERATION

    • Press the lock and unlock button on a door lock control switch while observing the door lock operation.

    Do the door locks operate? 

    Yes  For vehicles equipped with a conventional ignition switch, GO to  S2 For vehicles equipped with a push button ignition switch, GO to  S3
    No  GO to PINPOINT TEST I : ALL DOOR LOCKS ARE INOPERATIVE 
  2. S2 CHECK THE KEY-IN-IGNITION WARNING CHIME OPERATION

    • NOTE: Make sure the key is removed from the ignition lock cylinder.

      Open the driver door.

    Does the key-in-ignition warning chime sound? 

    Yes  REFER to: Instrumentation, Message Center and Warning Chimes .
    No  GO to  S3
  3. S3 VERIFY THE HORN OPERATION USING THE HORN OUTPUT (HORN) PID (PARAMETER IDENTIFICATION)

    • Ignition ON.

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, view the BCM Parameter Identifications (PIDs).

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, select the BCM PID HORN and active command the horn on and then off.

    Does the horn sound when commanded on? 

    Yes  GO to  S4
    No  REFER to: Horn .
  4. S4 VERIFY THE HAZARD LAMP OPERATION

    • Activate the hazard flasher lamp function.

    Do all of the turn lamps operate? 

    Yes  GO to  S5
    No  REFER to: Turn Signal and Hazard Lamps .
  5. S5 VERIFY THE LIFTGATE LATCH RELEASE/POWER LIFTGATE OPEN OPERATION

    • Unlock the doors using a door lock control switch.

    • Press the liftgate release switch located on the liftgate.

    Does the liftgate latch release or the power liftgate open? 

    Yes  REPLACE the suspect RKE transmitter. If the suspect RKE transmitter is an IKT, ERASE and PROGRAM the keys. Refer to: Erase All Keys and Key Programming . If the suspect RKE transmitter is a passive key, ERASE and PROGRAM the keys. Refer to: Erase All Keys and Key Programming . If the suspect RKE transmitter is a key fob, PROGRAM the RKE transmitter. Refer to: Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) Transmitter Programming .
    No  If equipped with a manual liftgate, GO to PINPOINT TEST N : THE LIFTGATE LATCH RELEASE IS INOPERATIVE  If equipped with a power liftgate, REFER to: Body Closures .
