Pinpoint Test D : Unable To Program Keys: Notes
Refer to PASSIVE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM for schematic and connector information.
Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
REFER to: Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) - System Operation and Component Description .
When programming keys or using a key in the backup starting location, the PATS center antenna operates similar to a standard PATS transceiver.
The PATS sends a signal to the PATS center antenna to read the key transponder ID. The PATS center antenna sends the key ID to the BCM.
The BCM either compares the key ID against what is already programmed (backup starting) or programs that key ID into memory (key programming). A maximum of 4 passive keys can be programmed into the BCM memory.
Possible Causes
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Passive key
- PATS center antenna
- BCM
