Pinpoint Test S : An Individual Button/Feature Is Inoperative From The RKE (Remote Keyless Entry) Transmitter
- S1 VERIFY THE DOOR LOCK OPERATION
- Press the lock/unlock buttons on a door lock control switch while observing the door lock operation.
Do the door locks operate?
Yes For vehicles equipped with a conventional ignition switch, GO to S2For vehicles equipped with a push button ignition switch, GO to S3 No GO to Pinpoint Test I - S2 CHECK THE KEY-IN-IGNITION WARNING CHIME OPERATION

NOTE: Make sure the key is removed from the ignition lock cylinder.
Open the driver door.
Do the key-in-ignition warning chime sound?
Yes REFER to: Instrumentation, Message Center and Warning Chimes No GO to S3 -
- S3 VERIFY THE HORN OPERATION USING THE HORN OUTPUT (HORN) PID (PARAMETER IDENTIFICATION)
- Using a scan tool, view the BCM Parameter Identifications (PIDs).
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, select the BCM PID HORN and active command the horn on and then off.
Does the horn sound when commanded on?
Yes GO to S4 No REFER to: Horn - S4 VERIFY THE HAZARD LAMP OPERATION
- Activate the hazard lamp function.
Do all the turn lamps operate correctly?
Yes GO to S5 No REFER to: Turn Signal and Hazard Lamps - S5 VERIFY THE LIFTGATE/LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT LID RELEASE OPERATION
- Unlock the doors using a door lock control switch.
- Press the exterior liftgate/luggage compartment lid release button.
Does the liftgate/luggage compartment lid latch release?
Yes REPLACE the suspect RKE transmitter. If the suspect RKE transmitter is an IKT, ERASE and PROGRAM the keys. REFER to: Erase All Keys and Key Programming If the suspect RKE transmitter is a key fob, PROGRAM the RKE transmitter. REFER to: Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) Transmitter Programming If the suspect RKE transmitter is a passive key, REPLACE the suspect passive key. Program the new key.
