Main Control Cover: Installation

   NOTE: Do not use metal scrapers, wire brushes, power abrasive discs, or other abrasive means to clean sealing surfaces. These tools cause scratches and gouges which make leak paths.

   Make sure that the mating faces are clean and free of foreign material. REFER to: RTV Sealing Surface Cleaning and Preparation .

   Apply Ultra Silicone Sealant to the main control sealing surface of the transmission case.

   Material

   : Motorcraft® Ultra Silicone Sealant / TA-29

   NOTE: Install the stud bolts in the locations noted during disassembly.

   Install the main control cover, the bolts and the stud bolts.

   Torque

   : 106 lb.in (12 Nm)

   Position the transmission fluid thermal bypass valve and install the transmission fluid thermal bypass valve nuts.

   Connect the electrical connectors and wiring harness retainers.

   Inspect the transmission mounted transmission fluid cooler tube backing ring and seal for damage and install a new backing ring or seal if necessary.

      Install the backing ring (7J324)

      Lubricate and install the seal (7D258)

      Material

      : Motorcraft® MERCON® LV Automatic Transmission Fluid / XT-10-QLVC (MERCON® LV) (WSS-M2C938-A)

   Install the transmission mounted transmission fluid cooler inlet tube and tighten the fitting.

   Torque

   : 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)

   Install a new transmission mounted transmission fluid cooler inlet tube bolt.

   Torque

   : 89 lb.in (10 Nm)

   Install the CAC tube, connect the EVAP canister purge valve tube and tighten the clamp.

   Torque

   : 44 lb.in (5 Nm)

   Connect the CAC outlet pipe and tighten the clamp.

   Torque

   : 44 lb.in (5 Nm)

   Connect the wiring harness retainers.

   Install the air cleaner assembly. REFER to: Air Cleaner .
